Happy holidays...

I can't believe that I am finally done with my 4th quarter, a whole year at Miami Ad School, for those who know MAS, it is no small feat... I'm super tired but also super excited for the upcoming year. It will go by fast I know it!

So in the spirit of the holidays, we've been baking up a storm! I just finished ordering Sophie's presents and I am ready for some eggnog...

I ♥ .

This morning as I read all over the internet about Steve Jobs, as I hear all the newscasts on TV pay tribute to a great visionary, a true genius... I finally realize how my mother felt when she mourned the death of JFK. There are people that inspire and make a different, but there are few that change the world forever. For me Steve Jobs is one of them, and as I type this using my MacBook Pro, I do not remember my life without an apple product. The first time I used a computer was a Mac, back in the 80's, I remember how the whole class took turns using it. As I got older and went to art school, Macs were all we used, and what I used to create my first flyer (sigh).

So, as I type away, I gaze across the room to find my daughter's imac, her ipod, my iphone, and all I can feel is grateful for Steve Jobs genius... and happy to have a little Apple in my life.

about me

There are people that love to talk about themselves...I'm just not one of them. I never know where to begin, I tend to jump from one subject to the next and it turns more into a comedy routine than an actual introduction. So now that I am putting together my website, I find myself stuck on a blank page called "about me". I need more coffee to finish this...

35

I like my birthdays. I do, and I never change my age or pretend that I am younger as I get older. So today I'm pretty happy, because at 35 I am where I need to be and doing what I love... No time for a party today since it is the last week of the quarter but later this week... watch out!

cat rabbit.

3rd quarter at MAS got me crazy, but in a good way! So I'm incredibly busy and hardly have time for anything else BUT when I came across this Australian textile artist Cat Rabbit, I had to stop and take a look. Her work is incredible, and now I am dying for every single one of her creations...

adventures in illustrator.

Now that I am putting my website together, I found a couple of illustrations I did this past quarter... oh how easy is to work when you do things you love...

lucky number 3.

Back to MAS and ready to get some serious work done. I'm excited!!! It so happens that this is my 3rd quarter in the school and I also believe it will be life changing, everything happens in 3's for me so I expect this quarter to be special. Lucky number 3... it is a magical number, oh happy 3rd quarter to me!

up in the air...

I love to travel, short distances, long distances... waiting at the airport is relaxing for me. I was watching Up in the Air with George Clooney and I kept thinking about how awesome it must be to be constantly flying from one place to the next. I guess I get kind of restless when I am in one place for too long. I love to move... from place to place, from one city to another. So this is my plan: to live in as many cities as I can, for as long as I can!

Chihuly.

I'm back from Boston! and it was awesome, the weather was good to us, even though the first night was a bit rainy. So many things to do and see and of course, I took tons of pics. On our last day we went to MFA and saw the most amazing exhibition: Chihuly. Now, I am not a fan of glass bowls or anything of the sort but this is incredible, this is truly inspirational. Art is art in any form and this man Dale Chihuly is simply genius.

The iphone pics are so lame, but I didn't take my camera that day, if only I would have known that photography was allowed... :(

camping chic.

I admit that I am not the camping type, and I have been running away from my family's yearly camping trips for a long time. However, this year I finaly said yes and I am hoping that my tent looks like this!

summer fun.

Oh summer you are here already...

First half of my summer will be spent traveling to Boston, Sophie and I have never been there (surprisingly enough) so it'll be a great experience, she is looking forward to visiting Salem and Berklee Music School and I can't wait to visit all those outdoor markets and museums. I don't think I will put down my camera at all....

I can't believe I have actually agreed to go camping with my whole family! First time ever for this city girl, but there is always a first time for everything... so, we are going to Asheville, NC to camp and taking a tour of the Biltmore Estates later that week (wine tasting included). I am looking forward to the opportunity to take great photographs and get in touch with nature a bit. There is a Cherokee reservation near by that we are also looking into visiting, so I am loving that idea.

2nd quarter rewind...

Done. Another quarter that flew by, I can now relax and catch a few zzzzzzzzzzz! As crazy as it may sound, I love how intense MAS is, it really makes you step up and give it your all. There were different assignments this time, no photography (bummer) but I did have lots of typography and illustration projects (which I love).

So here is a little CD redesign...

and I got to redesign one of my favorite books!

the sweetest faces...

I found these cuties abandoned by their mom, roaming in my mom's backyard. I took them in of course and I can happily report that I found them wonderful owners. After all, who can resist these faces?!
