veggie heaven...

I came across this incredibly delicious veggie table by Esther Kim of My Bride Story and I am dying to do something like this! I see a lot of dessert tables that are amazing, but this is definitely a beautiful way to serve up veggies, not to mention that the colors are so fresh and inviting... take a look!

Even my daughter was all over this saying that she would definitely try each thing from each plate!

oh phooey.

I need to rant. At least for a little while, this is usually how I deal with things, I let it go, wash my face and then jump into action. I made the conscious decision to be a parent at 22 and now at 34 I find myself a parent of a gorgeous 11 year old girl. No regrets, never, not even at my most difficult moments as a parent.

Today I find myself sighing quite bit, mainly because my 11 year old came home with a bad grade (and while that is fixable and not the end of the world) the cause behind it is what bothers me. The "I didn't feel like studying for it"... welcome to the teenage angst! ugh teenage-hood rearing its ugly head already! even the most mild mannered and well behaved children will suffer from some type of teen angst and this is one is hitting me at an earlier age than expected! lol!! I have to laugh because laughter and a really good sense of humor is what keeps me sane, especially in moments like this.

So in short today I realized that while my daughter is a gifted student, she still is a regular tween. I now have to switch gears and remember in detail how it feels to be a teen and how I need to handle teen angst. phooey. I am assuming that it will get more and more challenging but I will be prepared, I hope.

the holidays are here...oh joy!

It is a beautiful Monday morning here in "always sunny, always hot" Miami, and I have the day to do as I please. Lucky me! so I started my Christmas decorating and so far my paper village is done. Now I am off to finishing my wreath!

yes, I am having a white Christmas, because it will never snow in Miami and this is my way of coping with it!

mixed nuts

It has been an awesome day this Thanksgiving day, not at all stressful (which is a first). My mom and I decided to stick around in Miami and not drive up to NC as usual, so it was only the four of us. And while four might seem so small a gathering, I prefer it. Lately the whole 30 members in our immediate family seem more of a crowded blur than a family affair and frankly we need the break! (shush don't tell them!)

So in honor of the colorful and sometimes dysfunctional characters in my family, we ate thanksgiving dinner and watched Mixed Nuts...

who is afraid of the big bad wolf?

not me! I'm actually thinking of watching this new movie coming out, called Red Riding Hood, it features Amanda Seyfried...I saw the trailer this morning and it caught my interest, mainly because I always liked the fairy tale, and it doesn't hurt that there is plenty of eye candy! So today I am inspired by everything red, and even went to work feeling like little red riding hood in my red ballet flats...

oh guilty pleasure...

It has been the craziest, busiest past few weeks and I can finally say I DID IT! So now that I have a little bit of down time, I can get into writing my blog daily (or so I plan) and today I have to confess! I actually like that (country) song "Need you know" by Lady Antebellum. As a matter of fact, I have it playing now because I haven't been able to get it out off my head today. The funny thing is that it actually reminds me of someone I barely think about, so how is that for irony...and it's not even my type of music but for now, let me sing along to it, and dwell on memories that seem like a lifetime ago.
